‘Color Talks’ Exhibition by Plus Two (Part of East Type West Type)
‘Color Talks’ is part of a series of exhibitions exploring the mutable meanings of everyday colors and how they shape our perception of the world. The exhibition dives into the various attempts of categorization of colors, their psychological properties and their multiple opposing meanings in different times and cultures.
‘Color Talks’ is inspired by the work of Lara Captan and in collaboration with AGA LAB. This exhibition makes an attempt at the definition, codification and categorization of the colors that we interact with, whilst exhibiting the shortcomings of this approach in its inability to capture the specific experience of color as a unique attribute. In that sense, the shortcoming lies in the failure of the approach in codifying something as “organic” as color in a logical and finitely categorical format, along with our own binding limitation in perception.
Created by Plus Two, a Cairo-based creative, collaborative, experimental collective led by Mohammed Farahat and Omar Houssien, two friends out to create work that pushes the limits and standards of visual expression.
